Five hundred pieces for the Reverso’s sixtieth birthday in 1991: a bigger case, the first complications, the first sapphire back, and the start of every complicated Reverso since.

Reverso 60ème, Grande Taille · Ref. 270.2.64 · 1991
The 1991 Reverso 60ème is especially meaningful to me as a collector because it marks a turning point in the Reverso’s modern history.
Created for the model’s 60th anniversary and limited to 500 pieces, it introduced the larger Grande Taille case and became the first serially produced Reverso with complications: power reserve, pointer date, and small seconds. Its gold Calibre 824 was also visible through a sapphire caseback, another Reverso first.
Most importantly, the 60ème established the foundation for the complicated Reversos that followed, including the Tourbillon, Minute Repeater, Chronographe Rétrograde, Géographique, and Quantième Perpétuel.
That historical role is central to its collecting value. Its importance lies not only in its limited production and age, but in representing the moment when Jaeger-LeCoultre transformed the Reverso from an iconic design into a serious platform for haute horlogerie.
A Reverso collector in Thailand who shares the collection on Instagram as @jlc.reverso. The pieces here follow one thread: the Reverso as a record of history, from a coloured dial of 1933 and the first complicated Reverso of 1991 to editions made for Thailand and Kuwait, a tourbillon given a dial of its own, and Mucha’s Spring in enamel.
