Unique commissioned piece
A watch that commemorates a rescue at sea. In February 1999, during the third leg of the Around Alone solo round-the-world race, Soldini picked up a Mayday from Isabelle Autissier — the first woman to complete a solo competitive circumnavigation — whose boat had capsized. He turned back, found her, and took her aboard. He still won the race, in 116 days, and received the Legion of Honour from the French government for the rescue.
