Engraved monogram in black lacquer
Five engraved letters — D MAC A — turn an otherwise typical 1930s steel Reverso into one of the most historically loaded watches the maison owns. In 2015 it became the most expensive Reverso ever sold at auction, bought by Jaeger-LeCoultre for its own museum after fierce bidding took it to almost nine times its low estimate. The craftsmanship is not exceptional and the black lacquer around the monogram is slightly chipped; it is the wrist it sat on that made the price.
