Mitch & Linda Katz
When Mitch fell for the Chocolate Reverso, someone thought to show them another watch — a rose-gold Duetto meant for Linda. It became her second Reverso, and a quiet sign she was no longer just watching from the sidelines.

Mitch fell for the Chocolate Reverso. Then someone, just for the fun of it, showed them another watch — and this one was for Linda.

Reverso Duetto, rose gold
When I first saw the Chocolate Reverso, I wanted it immediately. It was going to be my first Reverso, and everything about the watch appealed to me: the warm rose-gold case, the brown dial and the special leather strap that completed the look. I had already decided that this was the Reverso for me. Around the same time, someone decided, “just for the fun of it,” to show us another watch. This one was for Linda.
By then, Linda already had her first Reverso, the yellow-gold Duoface that had taken me so long to convince her to accept. She wore that watch regularly, but what we were shown this time was something a little different: an elegant Duetto in rose gold and brown that happened to pair beautifully with my Chocolate Reverso, and we were both struck by it.
It wasn’t simply a smaller version of my watch, but there was enough of a family resemblance between the two that they felt as though they belonged together. Linda’s Duetto had diamonds on only one side, which suited her perfectly. It gave the watch a more formal character when she wanted it, without making the entire piece feel overly decorated. And the part I particularly enjoyed was that Linda wanted it, which was a sign that she was beginning to look at other watches.
This Duetto became the Reverso she wears for more formal occasions, and when I wear my Chocolate Reverso, the two watches make a wonderful pair. I suppose you could say that it also gave Linda a little more “cred” among my watch friends, although by then she hardly needed my help. I had spent years happily descending into the watch-collecting rabbit hole while Linda watched from a safe distance. Now, for the first time, I could see her getting dangerously close to the edge herself. What a wonderful turn of events (or perhaps I should have been more careful what I wished for).
For Mitch Katz and his wife Linda, watches have never been simply objects to collect. They have become part of a life together, connected to friendships, travels, accidents, laughter, personal milestones, and the people they have met along the way. That same belief, that the real value of a watch lies in the stories surrounding it, also led Mitch to write Time on My Hands: A Collector’s Journey in the World of Watches, his memoir about the watches, people, and experiences that shaped his collecting life. He has since carried his love of horology into fiction with Time Eternal, the first in a series of mysteries set within the world of watches, with three further novels in development. Together, these ten watches tell something larger than the story of a collection: the story of Mitch and Linda, and of how, over time, watches became part of the memories they share.
