Ordered a week after she was born, sent back to Switzerland for her name in lacquer, and worn carefully ever since — because one day it will be hers.

Reverso with lacquered lettering · 2022
I ordered this Reverso in January 2022, just a week after my daughter was born. I had previously seen a similar Reverso with lacquered lettering in Arabic and loved the idea, but I wondered whether Jaeger-LeCoultre could do something similar for me using English lettering instead. I spoke with the boutique in London, and they said it could be done.
First, though, we had to wait for the watch itself. Once a piece finally became available, it went back to Switzerland for the personalized work, where my daughter’s name was added to the reverse. It meant waiting a little longer, but that didn’t really matter. From the moment I placed the order, this was never going to be simply another Reverso for me: it was hers.
I still wear it, although usually only for special occasions. Part of that is because I want to protect the reverse and avoid putting too many scratches across the lacquered surface, but perhaps I am also a little more careful with it because I know what the watch represents.
Every time I turn it over and see my daughter’s name, it takes me back to January 2022 and those first days after she was born. One day, she will wear it, but until then, I have the pleasure of looking after it for her.
